Joshua's Story

Previous Page

Alright, man, like all of a sudden, I felt super.  I picked up that ole bat and started swingin it. I was gonna whack that ball into the next city.
I missed the first pitch. The second pitch was called a ball. The next pitch, man, I was really set now.
Whamo! I hit it! I threw the bat down and ran as fast as my legs could go.I made it to first. Everybody was screamin and waving me on so I kept on runnin – second!
By now, the crowd was really makin me feel crazy, so I kept runnin, man, I made it home safe! Slid all the way! But safe!
My buddies were jumpin all over me. I looked up at the crowd and saw my dad jumpin and clappin his hands. My mom and grandma were huggin each other. Man, did I feel proud! And oh, so good inside.
After the game was over, by the way, we killed ‘em, 15-8. The coach came over to me and asked how my baby brother was.
     “A-ok,” I said.
     “Yea, what’s his name?”
“Prune- I mean, Jimmy.” I said proudly, and I ran back to my family to check on him.
